Great Gifts, Great Shopping and Revolutionary Thoughts...

Who's that buying in every store?

iStock_000002111545XSmallI was shocked by my urge to continually buy for the Grandkids!  I couldn’t pass up a store or website where there might be something ‘for the kids’.

What happened to my solid flower child values?  How did a happy former hippy turn into a Grand Shopaholic?

I realized that my buying urge came from a good place – wanting to connect and contribute meaningfully to their lives.  But how ???

I tired of online shopping siteiStock_000010744110Smalls with thousands of toy options.

I got vertigo wandering the aisles at the big box stores searching for gifts that would last longer than the two seconds it took to unwrap them.

I wanted to benefit from feedback from other G!Parents, and enjoy having a place to come together and share funny and creative strategies to be the grandparents we dream to be... gg-logo_01

So that’s when my revolutionary boomer spirit began to spark, and the idea for Grandgifting ignited.

And, here it is, for you to use and enjoy!

Great stuff, from great people, for great connections with G!Kids

From the time my daughter was a baby, we bought book. Good books. Beautiful "keepers." As she grew up, she always had a book going. I told her "you will never be bored as long as you love to read." This is a wonderful tradition for GrandKids, too. They look forward to seeing what GrandMom picked just for them. And to have you read it to them. Great website concept. Clearly from the heart!

Thank you, Cathie! From a "Woman of Words" this is great advice!

I spent most of my childhood with my nose buried in books, which was a magical way to connect to the world. From attics with Nancy Drew to China with Pearl Buck, these escapades are as real to me as my own adventures!

I'm looking forward to sharing some amazing book finds on Grandgifting, and welcome your ideas as well!

You are definately on to something! I want the toys I buy to be special and not to see them in a big pile later on. I also don't want the parents to roll their eyes when we give a gift,as to say another pile of toy junk!

Sarah - So great to welcome you here!

Thanks for mentioning that great image of the eye-rolling parents!

My hope is that our GrandGifting community can also be scouts to tell me about special toys that pass all those tests, so we can all share the finds here!
