Poison in the Bathtub?

Yikes!  An alarming development in child safety we need to get smart about:
Toxic Toy Terror!

Sucking on bath toys used to seem harmless - now we need to worry whether it's poisonous!

If toxin-hunting for BPA, PVC, and Phthalates in the bathtub makes your head swim, you're not alone.

And  if you're like me and often want to hide from Toxic TSassyerrors because the info is too confusing, don't feel guilty.

Good news! Now we can trust reliable recommendations that all Sassy bath toys are BPA and phthalate-free and twelve of them are also PVC-free.

Why are some bath toys toxic?

Good question, and one that nauseates me to just think about, let alone share scary stats with you here.Click to see movie clip!

We've come a long way since  Mr. McGuire advised Benjamin in The Graduate that the great hope of the future was  'just one word: Plastics'.   Now plastic is the huge hassle of the present!

(click the picture to relive that moment.)

To stay clear of Toxic Terror, we can rely on RN Alicia Voorhees of The Soft Landing.

Here are Sassy bath toy suggestions from Alicia's BPA, PVC and Phthalate Free Bath Toy Guide which she updates periodically. Laughing

'Sassy' toys: Made from 'toxic-free' materials for safe fun in the tub

Think gentle paddleboat - not speedboat - to keep expectations in line. (Although one review I saw said a father was enamoured with it, even out of the tub...)

11954322131712176739question_mark_naught101_02.svg.hiBut from my research I must share that bath toys is a tricky category: The materials may be vetted, but the designs still draw customer concerns: Many products get a range of reviews from "great" to reports of water leaking in, squeeze toys that mold, and clever toys that don't exactly perform.

Thumbs_up_icon_smSo my suggestion is to view bath toys as a constantly evolving collection. Since these are low-cost toys, generally averaging around $6, I suggest trying them out, and being prepared to replenish tub toys often!
