Post-visit Trauma - Is this a GrandParenting syndrome?
Is there a cure?
Two delicious days passed too quickly. My nearly two-year old granddaughter came to stay, while her older siblings went to friends when their parents went away.
Special private time we've not had before.
Such a great visit - but now there’s a hole in my heart. And through it peeks her quizzical brown eyes below tousled red hair… Talking to me in flowing gibberish, with utmost confidence that I understand every word. And I do.
Should I call and see how she’s readjusting to home life? Could she really prefer living with THEM?

I’m wearing my daughter’s Mickey Mouse jacket. This was her prized jacket that she acquired in a magnificent Grandmother manipulation when she was 12 years old. It was a heroic showdown against what seemed to be insurmountable odds.
She’s now 29 and a Mommy of her own little ones, and although the family laughs at me for keeping this jacket, even among the few possessions that made the cut 10 years ago on my move to Israel, I could never part with it.

What can happen when we're anchored for a while in the kitchen and the G!Kids are roaming the GrandHome to find amusement?
Recently I found out. With a long day ahead of us, I was astonished recently when a threesome of my grandsons aged four, three, and 'nearly two' discovered something at the back of my closet that occupied them for a whole day, with no fighting and endless variations on the game.
